He has a bed!

Our baby will not have to sleep in a drawer! Tonight we assembled the crib and the glider and were surprised and excited by how EASY it was! We actually had fun! :) Of course as soon as the bed was assembled I just had to put the bedding on! Seeing a crib in a room we have only casually been calling "the nursery" definitely makes this all feel more real! We still have to assemble a dresser/changing table that Drew continues to remind me has 3 boxes of hardware...sometime this week we will get to that project! Next up cleaning the carpets and painting the room and then we will finally be ready to start decorating! We are doing retro/vintage sports decor complete with the 1912 Jayhawk (the skinny Jayhawk), pictures of Drew's grandad in his KU football uniform, hopefully a picture of my dad as a kid in his baseball uniform and other vintage prints etc. that we have found! I can't wait!

We are also very close to reaching a conclusion on a name...so far no name has lasted more than about 4-5 days, but for some reason I feel like this most recent name is a keeper!

Week 25-Birthday Bump

This week I "officially" celebrated my 30th birthday. I traded in my traditional cocktails and dancing for family time and an old fashioned birthday celebration complete with amazing brownies, ice cream and chocolate sauce and I couldn't have been happier! My nephews made my birthday extra special by crafting hats, sunglasses, and puzzles with birthday messages for me! We had a beautiful day at the lake complete with water skiing, tubing and swimming capped off with a low country boil for dinner. I can honestly say that I have never felt more optimistic and happy going into the next year of life as I do this year. I am so blessed with a wonderful family, husband, life, and soon to be son! Our little guy will be so richly blessed with love from his family!
When I looked over the pictures from our week at the lake I was shocked by the size of my belly...it is so strange to look at pictures of yourself and hardly recognize your own body...hard to believe there are still three months left...pregnancy is definitely a ride, but I am loving every minute so far!
Wednesday we have another ultrasound and hopefully soon to be named little boy Keller will cooperate and let us see his cute little face so that the doctor will give us the clear that all is alright! He is quite the active little guy so I am confident that this time we will get a better glimpse!
I have also attached a few fun family photos from our week with my brother and his family! We are excited that our family continues to grow!

Week 24 Time for Some R&R

Yet another week has FLOWN by...I can't believe how quickly time is passing! Nothing too monumental this week. We picked up all of the furniture and took the pieces out of the boxes...that is as far as we have gotten with assembly. This week we will take a week off from preparing for the baby and just relax. My best friend, Ashlee, is in town from Alabama for a few days and my brother and his family are here all week. We will spend the majority of the week at the lake with the entire Hovel family. We all haven't been together as a family for two years so we are really looking forward to the get away. Drew and I can get a feel for what it will be like down the road to have boys at the lake since we will be entertaining my nephews ages 6 and 8. We are hopeful to do some boating, fishing and exploring around the lake and lots of swimming. Baby Boy Keller will be in training in utero!

Everything is still going very smoothly, we couldn't ask for anything better!

I have also attached a picture of our current "babies" who must not be forgotten in all the baby preparation, our pups Rigley and Bentley!

Week 23-Mission Accomplished

This week we have accomplished SO much! Not only has the belly continued to grow (although I do think this picture makes the bump look larger than real life) but we have also ordered baby Keller's bedding, a crib and a dresser/changer combo-AND they all arrived this week! We are well on our way to getting prepared for this little guy and the excitement just continues to grow.

This week I also made my inaugural trip to Babies R Us...and I am proud to say that there were no tears shed and no panic attacks. I must attribute this all to my amazing mom who spent almost 5 hours walking around the store with me, offering advise, sitting with me on the floor while I read through my books telling me which products were "As" versus "Fs" and offering encouragement. My mom has been such a huge blessing and the pregnancy experience has certainly made us grow even closer. I feel so fortunate.

The only thing that Drew and I have yet to make progress on is a name for our little guy. Fortunately, we have several more months to figure it out because at the rate we are progressing we will be lucky if we figure it out by November much less by New Years!

Week 22

Definitely another week of bump expansion! This week many people in the offices I call on asked me..."is there something you haven't told us?"...so everyone seems to be catching on!

We had our ultrasound this week and it was pretty uneventful. Unfortunately, for the second time in the last month our little rascal was standing on his head facing away from the camera and tucked down into the left corner of my uterus. The doctor was able to verify that all body parts were developing normally, except she couldn't get a look at his little face. I was kind of disappointed because I really wanted to see his cute little profile and of course have the reassurance that all is good with all parts of our little guy. The good news is that we get to go back at the end of the month for another ultrasound and hopefully he will be ready to cooperate and let us get a sneak peak at his mug! I feel pretty confident we will get a good look next time because in the last 3 days his movements have become bigger, stronger and more widespread across my belly. Last night Drew could feel him doing somersaults...in the past mostly Drew has just felt vibrations so it was fun for him to feel the baby move more too!

We have made some good progress on daycare plans as well as nursery plans this week. I think we have the bedding picked out and the furniture, for the most part, so this week we need to just go for it and then I finally need to gear up and get the nerve to tackle the registry...must admit I am putting that one off!
Overall, everything is going so incredibly smoothly and we are growing more excited by the day!
